Now that you mention it, I recall reading somewhere on this very board, once upon a time, that Charlie was not too pleased about it. Thank you for stopping by to stir the pot, sir! :)

Well you know me. I love stirring up shit here!

But Hunter seems to enjoy it as well. Perhaps he would like to explain to all the kind folks here just why Charlie has not been uploading many new sources...

Hey Cliff, I believe the slowage of Miller flow is unrelated. In any case, after Charlie listened to more of my matrixes, he really started to enjoy them and started posting positive reviews and even making suggestions for sources to use. I hope this clears up any concern you have had as of late. So, we're all good on this issue now. Thanks for your ongoing concern, but not for your ongoing one-star rating rampages.

HS

Hunter, would you mind posting some links to the reviews you mentioned where CM "signs off" as it were on the work you were doing? The last thing I remember seeing on these message boards was his disapproval and threat to put a halt to all uploads of new sources. I've been perusing most of your shows here with reviews and haven't found anything by CM or SKBarchives so if you wouldnt mind linking? I've been concerned as I'm sure so have many others ever since those initial angry postings.

I believe folk misinterpreted and then added their own words to CM's remarks. CM is known for his rather tongue-in-cheek threats to withhold the goods on LL boards pertaining to various topics, not just matrixes. But he always delivers the goods after creating such havoc.

Back in the day, Charlie has said he was not a "fan" of matrixes. But over the years, I have found remarks such as these on my torrents:

In regard to my 6/23/74 24 bit matrix:

charliemiller 2010-02-08 20:24:44
"This is one matrix that I would like to hear. Two great sources. Looking forward to it."

In regard to my older 10/10/82 matrix:

charliemiller 2009-12-25 01:46:01
"You should re-do this with the upgraded transfer I did with rango's masters.

Just a suggestion"

Moreover, I have seen a handful of other occasions where Charlie in fact has recommended HIS sources for matrixes, as in the above example. Do we need any more proof that Charlie has approved of matrix endeavors using his sources, and that we need not hop on the Charlie idol-worshiping bandwagon in order to bash other sources? The whole "Charlie hates Hunter's work" rumor was a fraud from the get-go and the result of people needing to hate something new and different, and in some cases, if not most, even better - "What? - something sounds better than a CM source? Oh my god, the earth has spun from its axis! Impossibe! MY NAME IS HUCKER!! What the hell? Where's my pills?"

Let's all realize that CM's invaluable work has played an integral role in the creation of quality matrixes, and his work has not been taken for granted. Fact is, CM & HS have had a long-standing, amicable relationship.

I went back to look at the original post and in fact nowhere does CM mention your matrixes as having anything to do with his decision to stop circulating boards. I guess it was CH's continual insertion of his opinions into the thread that caused me to remember it that way. Many apologies.

joby- no worries as Charlie recently posted that he has a lot of new shows to post, many where there are no soundboards currently circulating. He's been releasing other shows a well- upgrades of 7-5-81 and 7-7-81 so the gravy train is still alive and well.

Thanks BD, I've noticed and appreciated the recent work CM has been posting here there and everywhere, particularly the improvements to his already existing recordings with pitch correction and the like. I just feel bad for contributing to Hunter Seamon's stress in any way with my own confusion about the subject. I guess with the post in question CM was just having a bad week or something. Fuck it, I blame Cliff.

No worries, joby. I have gathered you are not the only one who has been confused around this issue, as tons of folk read these boards. The fact is, some stuff did go down at one point on a matrix thread where Charlie said he would not circulate new stuff due to his stuff being used for matrixes - but like I said, he has said this for a handful of different reasons, matrixes being just one of them. I thought it was important to share, in light of the questions, that CM has had radically different opinions expressed for some time now that should diffuse the issue that people are gossiping about.

I love the matrices, Hunter. Thanks for all the effort you put into it. I'm not sure why anyone would get so upset about the creation of a new source, especially since nothing is destroyed in the process. That's what archive.org is all about after all -- sharing freely and creating. Good work.

Hunter , hello , hope you are well .
Any chance for 10-19-81 , Barcelona getting a magic touch ? Both sources I can't listen to , much like 6/22/85 was . I am dying to hear the S/F among others .
The original SBD of 10-19-81 is awful and while CM's is a major upgrade it still hurts my ears , so something is off . Any shot ? Thanks . Sean

I have always liked that Spain '81 show, but the first set is riddled with sound issues, and I don't think I could make something that good sounding with the given sources. Thanks for the suggestion.

Sorry, HS, but I'm afraid that our friend has his firm opinions that we cannot hope to ever sway. To each his own. But you know me, always love your work. And the latest product? Outstanding. Purists be damned. Hell, I don't think Picasso or Rembrandt would be all that upset at the people producing recreations of their work with small twists here and there, as long as the original was left intact.
